Dental New Year’s Resolutions

(or lessons in dental care from Don Quixote to Dr. Alban)

“The truth may be stretched thin, but it never breaks”, “Too much sanity is madness”, “Hunger is the best sauce in the world” …  if you read Don Quixote, chances are that you are familiar with the quotes in one way or another.

As dentists however, it should not surprise you that we chose the following from de Cervantes’ classic novel as our favorite:

“Every tooth in a man’s head is more valuable than a diamond”

So when this time of the year comes around, and you just found a purpose for that fridge magnet you got as a gift last summer, stick on your list of new year’s resolutions and put the following three right at the top:

  1. Go and see the dentist”. We didn’t say that in the first place. Swedish techno-rapper Dr. Alban had a smash hit with the song in 1994, and who can argue with him ... the man was right.

Prevention is better than cure and having a regular check every three to six months will keep your mouth clean and will identify problems before they become trouble.

  1. Brush after every meal. And floss. And use mouth wash. And massage your gums. And brush your tongue and cheeks from the inside. And …. hang on, you don’t have to do all that every time, just do it once daily and you’ll be fine.

But for the brushing part, don’t skip. Keep a small brush and toothpaste in the office or in your bag, and go brush. After every meal.

  1. Esthetics, and it doesn’t have to be diamonds. Ask your dentist about available procedures like cosmetic fillings, whitening, crowning and implants. You will look good, healthy, confident.

People may not judge a book by its cover, but they will judge a person by their teeth. No, that was not from Don Quixote. It’s from the dentist.

Your dental team from Cocoona.
